Therefore, if you find that you get turned on very quickly when using your product, then you might want to consider buying a stronger item that can give you this much pleasure.

Netflix’s DVD rental subsidiary celebrates five billion discs shipped with a tweet . And business is still going well.

While other services like Amazon squashed their DVD rental offerings in favor of streaming years ago, Netflix and its subsidiary DVD.com are still on the ball. Now the 21-year-old company has celebrated five billion DVDs shipped since 1998. Netflix shares when asked with that it still hits about a million DVDs a week to households in the United States.

Netflix DVD: 2.4 million American households as customers

With currently around 2.4 million subscribers and a resulting annual turnover of at least 230 million US dollars, DVD.com delivers stable figures. Compared to the 60 million subscribers that Netflix streaming offshoots have in the USA alone, the turnover naturally appears extremely small.

Captain Marvel at Netflix DVD: Streaming customers can only be amazed.

Netflix’s DVD service is as straightforward as usual and, according to its own statements, has not increased its prices for ten years. For a monthly fee of $ 7.99, customers can have an unlimited number of films sent to them, although they are only allowed to have one at home at a time. For $ 11.99, you can keep two at a time. There are no costs for delivery and return.

Netflix DVD: Offer more current than the streaming portfolio

At first glance, it may seem downright nonsensical to have DVDs (and Blu-rays) sent to you when Netflix also has a streaming service. In fact, DVD.com offers the latest blockbusters such as Captain Marvel or Rocketman that are not (yet) available in streaming.

Enthusiastic US film buffs do not prefer the DVD rental company out of pure nostalgia, but simply get the latest films there. Incidentally, Rocketman was the film sent with the five and the many zeros.

The audio specialist Sennheiser enters the automotive sector. Its Ambeo 3D audio system is currently shown in the 2020 Karma Revero GT from the US luxury car manufacturer Karma Automotive.

Sennheiser is known as a quality manufacturer especially for headphones and microphones. Now the German sound specialist wants to conquer in-car entertainment and communication in the automotive sector with its Ambeo 3D sound system. To this end, Sennheiser is working with the Californian luxury automobile manufacturer Karma Automotive. In its 2020 Karma Revero GT, which was introduced in spring and is based on the legendary Fisker Karma , Sennheiser presents the audio system to the public.

Sennheiser system: 3D sound without a 3D audio source

According to Sennheiser, the  Ambeo audio system has several loudspeakers on two main levels. There is also a subwoofer. The headrests of the 2020 Karma Revero GT are also integrated into the speaker concept. According to the manufacturer, a specific 3D audio source is not necessary for spatial sound. Instead, the integrated upmix algorithm converts stereo material into 3D audio, according to Sennheiser. The user controls audio sources and volume via a graphic surface. This allows you to set the degree of immersion and your own position within the sound space.

With the Ambeo audio system, Sennheiser promises “crystal-clear audio transmission for phone calls in the car”. This is ensured by the beamforming technology, thanks to which the built-in microphone arrays focus the speaker. Wind, engine or rolling noise, on the other hand, should be dampened. Passengers should in turn be able to decide whether they want to take part in the phone call or prefer to listen to music or watch films without being disturbed.

Difficult acoustic conditions in the vehicle

“Our goal was to create the best audio system in the industry. The system we have developed impresses with authentic surround sound, high speech intelligibility and a multitude of personalization options, ”said Co-CEO Andreas Sennheiser. According to its own statements, Sennheiser has been working on the development and fine-tuning of the technology for the automotive sector for over two years. The company said that you had to start from scratch. The acoustic conditions in the vehicle are complex and difficult.

Sennheiser has not yet said when and at what price the Ambeo 3D audio system will be launched. It is also unclear in which other vehicles besides the 2020 Karma Revero GT the technology will be installed. In Karma, Sennheiser praised the development focus on electric mobility. “With Karma we are combining the future of mobility with the future of audio technology,” says Daniel Sennheiser, Co-CEO of Sennheiser.

Being in the fresh air, but always having a comfortable home close by and remaining completely independent – that is what makes camping so unique. Holidays with the motorhome are perfect for families, especially in Corona times. With our partner Ahorn Camp, we will introduce you to the many advantages for young and old and show you tips for camping holidays with children.

Children love to try new things and discover things. Hardly any other vacation offers so many adventures as a vacation with a motorhome. You can always head for new places full of surprises. Once there, you can experience nature up close, shine your flashlight around in the evening and watch the starry sky at night.

But even the journey in a motorhome is more exciting than in a normal car. Because the large vehicle in itself is an attraction: a home on wheels with a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom in small format! The many drawers and compartments, the alcove, tables and benches that can be folded out and folded down – the numerous practical solutions in the vehicle are little sensations for children that provide lots of new impressions and fun.

Probably the safest vacation in Corona times

Especially after the offspring had to spend so much time indoors because of the corona pandemic, they long for adventure and exercise in the fresh air. A camping holiday is the ideal solution. Special family campsites are even specially designed for younger guests.

A motorhome also offers the advantage that the parents set the hygienic standards themselves. Because unlike in a hotel or apartment complex, for example, all closed rooms in which the family is concentrated are concentrated on this compact home on four wheels, which can be disinfected in a few simple steps. There the little ones can confidently touch everything or even put it in their mouth.

Just change the travel destination

Contact with people outside the family can also be reduced to a minimum, if desired. If the requirements for behavior in public are tightened at the travel destination, the vacation is not over: the motorhome can simply be driven elsewhere.

Even a quarantine could be endured very well in these mobile four walls, as these six tips show . And even in the worst case, if a family member falls ill, no time-consuming repatriation has to be organized – because you are mobile and can simply drive back home.

Sustainable, cheap and practical

                                                                                      Maple Camp

Many families today are interested in sustainability. So it is fitting that a camping holiday has a better carbon footprint than, for example, a flight or a boat trip. Especially if one of the numerous beautiful corners of Germany is being approached – which is of course particularly advisable in Corona times. For example, you can find eight fantastic routes through the most beautiful regions of our country here .

In addition, a vacation with a motorhome is cheap and practical. Thanks to the large storage space, supplies can be taken along. Not only is self-sufficiency possible without a lot of shopping on site, the children also get the food they are used to and like at home on their plate.

Tips for a motorhome holiday with children

Especially for newbies, there are a few things to watch out for on a camping holiday with young and old in order to avoid whining, tears or worse: As in a normal car, children must be buckled up while driving. So think about the child seats. In addition, you should not tackle too long stretches – a maximum of around 200 kilometers per day is the rule of thumb – and plan regular breaks.

The little ones need two things for the trip, but also in the event of bad weather on vacation: snacks and distraction. So make sure you have enough drinks and, for example, fruit or cookies, pack board games, books as well as painting and handicrafts. Games like “I see what you can’t see” or audio books are available while driving. Smartphones and tablets can – in moderation – also serve to pass the time. Remember to download game and learning apps, music, audio books, films and series, preferably at home.

Be prepared for any weather

                                                                                         Maple Camp

Note that children are more sensitive to both the warmth of the sun and the cold of the nights. So pack a sun sail and sunscreen as well as warm and rainproof clothing. Since most campsites have large lawns, it can get muddy. Wellington boots, mud pants and a washable doormat, on which the dirty things can be taken off before entering the motorhome, make sense.

A holiday with a lot of variety is exciting, but it can also lead to overstimulation. Daily routines such as meals together, a nap in the afternoon or an evening bedtime story are therefore particularly important. In general, the motorhome should be made homely and comfortably – so that it is the ideal retreat for the whole family.

Ahorn Camp: Reliable motorhome provider for over 30 years

                                                                                      Maple Camp

Do you fancy a vacation with the whole family in which freedom, security and comfort are paramount? You can find motorhomes for your perfect vacation at Ahorn Camp – to buy and rent. The models of the family company from Speyer, which has been in existence for over 30 years, have already been recognized as price-performance winners several times. The safe and economical vehicles offer a high quality of living and sleeping and are particularly family-friendly. They are also built on a Renault basis, which is considered very reliable.

Ahorn Camp offers newcomers to camping the opportunity to test out their holiday with a motorhome. Because with Ahorn Retro, the company operates its own motorhome rental system with over 40 rental stations throughout Germany.

Experience the safest and most beautiful vacation that you can take with your family in these times and enjoy the freedom of the motorhome – with Ahorn Camp!

Did you know that streaming is mostly just in front of the screen? Or that the wish list is actually completely pointless? Eight facts about our streaming behavior.

1. 22.7 million Germans use streaming subscriptions

The Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (GfK for short) not only knows that at the beginning of the year women preferred to stream the series “You – You Will Love Me” and men “The Big Bang Theory”. She also knows how many new subscribers the services can look forward to in Germany. In the first quarter of 2019, the number of paid subscriptions rose by nine percent (compared to the previous quarter) to 22.7 million .

48 percent of the market shares fall on Prime Video and 31.2 percent on Netflix , as Florian Kerkau from the market research company Goldmedia reported at Republica 2019. In actual, daily use, however, the ratio turns – then Netflix with 52 percent is clearly ahead of Prime Video with 36.7 percent. These numbers can also be verified by sharing user accounts (see point 7).

2. 1.9 million Germans stream illegally

Although the times of torrent sites and illegal streaming seemed to be over, the services and rentals still suffer a huge loss of around 700 million euros a year. Because 1.9 million Germans are still making the effort, hacking pay-TV signals and tormenting their way through shaky and blurry recordings from the cinema. This is mainly true of young men between the ages of 18 and 23 .

With the triumphant advance of streaming subscriptions, the topic has slightly disappeared from the public’s awareness. Because for the first time in decades there are enough legal alternatives. However, the multitude of new services could change that again: Because more and more originals are disappearing behind the payment barriers that are currently not activated by subscription.

3. 9 out of 10 items of content do not make it beyond the watch list

When did you actually watch the last film on your watchlist? Exactly, because that doesn’t happen as often as you might think. To be precise: only five to ten percent of the saved titles are streamed at all . And the longer a piece of content has been on the watchlist, the less likely it is.

It should come as no surprise that the watch list degenerates into a hodgepodge of bizarre things in times of on-demand access. A series was recommended here and the algorithm promoted a restart. Everything is saved – only what is missing is urgency and the right context. Because what you have saved once may never be as relevant again as with a quick click on “Save”.

4. Recommendation algorithms ensure 70 percent of all clicks

And another aspect speaks against the good old watchlist: Today, thanks to walled gardens and bingewatching, our feeds are so well tailored that we almost always find what we are looking for. YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan even fixed this to a number in 2018: 70 percent of all clicks can be traced back to the platform’s recommendation algorithm .

This also explains why the wish list is performing so poorly – it has simply become unnecessary. Because if the new suggestions are always better, more exciting and more relevant, then you simply never have to go back to your iron reserve and can save that for the really hard hours.

5. Kids-Content is a driver for streaming subscriptions

Much has already been written about the billions of dollars spent by Netflix and Co. A minority that is not that small is often left out: children. In 2019 alone, a total of 1.1 billion US dollars will be invested in animation series and other child-friendly content on Netflix – this corresponds to eleven percent of the total expenditure for Originals .

Anyone who lives in a household with children will know that the quality and scope of kids’ content in particular play a major role when choosing a fixed streaming subscription. And Netflix has set itself the goal of becoming a one-stop shop for every member of the family – everyone should find the right content for them.

6. Amazon wanted to buy Netflix for $ 16 million

Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph (initially held 30 percent of the shares, Reed Hastings 70 percent) recently published his memoir “That Will Never Work”. And in it he tells that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos himself wanted to buy the young DVD mail order company Netflix in 1998 for a bargain price somewhere between 14 and 16 million dollars .

At that time, Netflix was only two months old and should pave the way for Amazon into the video segment. But Randolph and Hastings had bigger plans. Because with the pivot for streaming and the focus on self-produced content, they were able to increase the company value to 119 billion today. Finally, in 2011, Amazon struck the provider Lovefilm, which they were able to gradually convert to Prime Video.

7. Every 7th US user shares their Netflix access

In their terms and conditions, all streaming services expressly object to the sharing of personal user data such as passwords – but they do not actively do anything about it. The number of unreported friends and family members who stream with a payment account is correspondingly high. One reason for this could be that groups tend to opt for the most expensive subscription, as this is the only way that multiple devices can access the catalog at the same time.

In a survey of US Netflix users, the analysts at Moffett Nathanson found that one in seven already shares their accounts . The information on the use of Goldmedia from point 1 indicates, however, that the number of shared accounts (at least in this country) should be much larger.

8. Streaming mostly happens alone

Often there is still plenty of space on the couch when we turn on the television in the evening. Only 39 percent of Germans stream with their partner and only 11 percent with their family. According to a survey by Next Media Hamburg, most people, at 48 percent, sit  alone in front of the receiving device of their choice.

While linear television still (and in the case of GNTM, jungle and international football matches, probably rightly) uses the image of a shared campfire, streamers consciously make use of “when I want” television and watch when they want, what you want.

Apple has launched its streaming offer. We’ll tell you how you can watch Apple TV Plus, what it costs and which series await you there.

The time has come: From November 1, 2019, Apple will also be on the series streaming market. The offer is called Apple TV Plus and initially includes seven series and a documentary, all of which were produced exclusively for the service. Apple charges 4.99 euros per month for the offer, which is quite limited compared to other streaming services such as Netflix.

After all, new series and films should be added every month. New customers also have the opportunity to test the service for one week free of charge. Anyone who bought an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV or Mac after September 10, 2019 can even use the service free of charge for one year.

But Attention : Announces her trial subscription, you immediately lose access to the service. This is a very unusual practice. For example, anyone who cancels a trial month of Prime can still use the offer until the end of the original trial month. With Apple TV Plus, on the other hand, you would have to cancel one day before the end of the trial period in order to get the most out of the offer. If you miss this date, Apple will bill you regularly for the next month.

Apple TV Plus is available on the Mac, iPhone and iPad as long as you have installed the latest version of the respective operating system. The set-top boxes Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD and the third generation Apple TV are also supported. In addition, the Apple TV Plus app should also be available for various smart TVs and streaming boxes from other manufacturers. If you don’t have any of these, you can also use the service via the browser. According to Apple, this works with Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

Apple TV Plus: These series are available at the start

The Morning Show

With Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, the drama series about a presenter who is accused of sexual misconduct has top-class cast. The first reviews, however, are rather mixed.

Lake – realm of the blind

“See – Empire of the Blind” comes from the maker of the popular British gangster series “Peaky Blinders” and combines fantasy with a post-apocalyptic setting. Slant writes: “In the end, ‘See’s countless absurdities only add up to a zero-eight-fifteen dystopia in which the children are the’ chosen ‘and the tyrant must be overthrown.”

For all Mankind

“For All Mankind” takes place in an alternate reality in which the Soviet Union was the first to send people to the moon and the space race never really ended. While the reviews are usually not exuberant here either, the series apparently comes off better than “See” or “The Morning Show” with the critics.

Dickinson

With “Dickinson”, Apple has turned the life of the writer Emily Dickinson into a coming-age comedy series. Sounds a little unsuitable at first, but Apple’s best series format to date for the Washington Post.

Helpsters

Helpsters is one of three kids’ series that can be seen on Apple TV Plus. It is no coincidence that the eponymous doll monsters are reminiscent of Sesame Street, the format actually comes from the makers of the cult children’s series.

Four friends and the ghost hand

Netflix has apparently had great success with supernatural teen series, if not necessarily with the critics, but with the audience. So it is probably not surprising that Apple is also offering a similar format in the form of a reboot of the 1990 children’s series “Ghostwriter”.

Snoopy in space

The title is pretty self-explanatory. The cartoon dog Snoopy, first drawn by Charles M. Schulz in 1950, becomes a NASA astronaut and even explores the moon with the other Peanuts.

The Elephant Queen

The family documentary “The Elephant Queen” premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Cinema for Peace Award 2019.

Amazon is launching an alternative to Spotify Free. The free, advertising-financed music streaming service from Amazon Music can be used on smartphones, tablets and Fire TV devices.

Previously, Amazon offered its free, ad-supported music streaming service only to owners of an Echo speaker . Since November 19, 2019, it can be used via the Amazon Music apps on any smartphone with Android and iOS, web browser and Fire TV products without Amazon Prime membership

Free Amazon Music Offer: You only need an Amazon account

With the free streaming service, Amazon  is offering an alternative to the free Spotify Free offer from the music streaming industry leader Spotify. There is a big difference between the two free services: While Spotify Free users have access to the complete streaming offer of 50 million tracks, Amazon’s free service delivers a reduced selection of music based on playlists and, according to its own statements, “thousands” of radio stations on a song, artist, era or genre. They also have access to the top playlists – and “the best Christmas carols”.

The advertisements on Amazon’s service take place after playing some songs and are several seconds long. The length and number of advertisements depends on usage, according to Amazon. Offline playback is not possible in the advertising-financed model; this is reserved for paying customers.

Despite the comparatively limited scope, it is clear that Amazon’s offer is a clear challenge to Spotify. According to the latest figures , Spotify has 248 million users , 113 million of which are paying customers. Spotify’s ad-financed service also offers a wider range of functions: Among other things, users can also create their own playlists. For people who only listen to music in the background, however, the restrictions should not be relevant.

Amazon Music with 3 paid models

In addition to the new free offer, Amazon now offers three different paid models for its music streaming service. Prime Music is part of the Amazon Prime Bundle , which costs 69 euros a year. It includes access to two million songs and “thousands of playlists”.

Amazon Prime Music Unlimited is divided into two sections: For € 9.99 per month * , users get access to 50 million songs, thousands of playlists and radio stations. Similar to Spotify, Amazon offers family membership for 14.99 euros. Furthermore, Prime customers can book the Unlimited tariff a little cheaper for 7.99 euros. Since September 2019, Amazon has been offering the Amazon Music HD service with better sound quality to match its premium echo loudspeaker Echo Studio (test) . HD content is transmitted at up to 3.7 megabits per second, while the standard quality on Amazon Music is a bit rate of 320 kilobits per second. Amazon’s HD Music costs from 14.99 euros or 12.99 euros for Prime customers.

The Heist series “House of Money” is about an escalating hostage situation in a banknote printing plant and is presented as entertaining entertainment. It’s good that the Hollywood-style staging distracts from some weaknesses.

A conclusion after the first two seasons.

The plot: This is what “House of Money” is all about

A young man with the alias “Professor” (Álvaro Morte) hires a ragged group of criminals to shoot the greatest coup in human history: a robbery on a central bank printing plant. But no money should be stolen. Instead, the morally conscious professor plans to print his own euros in the “House of Money”. However, a protracted hostage situation is necessary for this.

The professor is careful: the group members only know each other by their aliases. Each one bears the name of a big city. The story is told from the perspective of “Tokyo” (Úrsula Corberó), a spirited bank robber who has a secret affair with the young hacker “Rio” (Miguel Herrán). The professor has strictly forbidden love stories. Rightly, as it later turns out, since the ingenious plan of Tokyo’s heart for Rio threatens to fail.

While the hostage-takers are entrenched in the banknote printing plant, the professor coordinates the crime from a safe hiding place and at the same time hooks up with the police inspector in charge, Raquel (Itziar Ituño). Ingenious move or fatal mistake?

Two seasons – 22 episodes of hostage drama

The Spanish TV series has so far been presented in two parts for Netflix. The second part with the last nine episodes has been available since April 12th. 22 episodes are far too many for the thin plot. Instead of telling the hostage drama in half the time, the script is stretched and adulterated with greasy romances. This is of course the fault of the “Stockholm Syndrome”. Instead, one could also call the many love stories “Titanic Syndrome”, because the characters fall head over heels in love within a few days that the first marriage proposals between hostage and hostage taker are not long in coming. Naive storytelling or Spanish temperament?

Modern fairy tale with old-fashioned stylistic devices

In the first two seasons, “House of Money” mixes cheeky heist movie clichés with traditional legends. The criminal gang is presented with mugshots and voice-overs. Each subsequent episode begins with a ticking clock that adds up the previous hours of the hostage situation. Surprise: as old-fashioned as these clichés are, they are fun.

The euphoria is quickly clouded, however, because the voiceover from protagonist Tokyo just doesn’t stop. Everything that the script cannot show is simply explained off-screen – a cheap stylistic device that is still very popular because the viewer is given all the important information in advance.

The problem lies elsewhere, however: A hostage situation creates tension from the moment, from an uncertain situation that could explode at any time. The constant retelling of Tokyo cancels this tension.

El amor dominates – four romances at the same time!

Love may even play the biggest role in “House of Money”. Almost every plan fails due to the impulsive mood swings of the characters, both on the part of the hostage takers and the police.

The hostage (melo) drama juggles four romances at the same time. The almost fairytale love story between the “Professor” and the “Inspectora” has the effect of the lack of chemistry like the unpleasant petting of two teenagers who confess their feelings for each other in a shaky voice. Of course, the affair is highly dramatic: The inspectora doesn’t know that she is personally dating the chief hostage-taker. The game of hide and seek is reminiscent of the friendship between drug lord Walter White and DEA agent Hank Schrader from “Breaking Bad”. “House of Money” looks at one or the other phrase too much, which means that the series often looks constructed.

The real star of the series is …

The characters are as flat as cardboard stands. Meaningful monologues cannot hide this. Nevertheless, there is a performance that makes “House of Money” worth seeing. Chief hostage taker “Berlin” (Pedro Alonso), who is in charge of the banknote printing company, not only delivers the most charismatic performance of the series, but also its opaque character design gives the gangster group the necessary dynamism. The eloquent narcissist with a code of honor would have made a much better protagonist than the one-dimensional Tokyo. Berlin’s voiceover would certainly have been a lot more exciting.

Conclusion: “House of Money” is naive entertainment

It is understandable why the series is met with enthusiasm: the topic is exciting, the staging is casual and lively and the simple script never overwhelms. “House of Money” is made for relaxed “bingewatching”

If you thought you could enjoy all the Marvel films right at the start of Disney +, you will be disappointed: Some of the blockbusters are missing in Germany. Find out here which seven films are involved.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU for short) now comprises a total of 23 films. Marvel fans who thought they could see all the films right at the start of Disney + now have a different picture: The library of the new streaming service is missing three MCU films and four other Marvel films.

  • The incredible Hulk
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home
  • Deadpool
  • Deadpool 2
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • Logan – The Wolverine

Age ratings and licenses: That’s why the series are missing

There are several reasons that these films are not available: With regard to the two Spider-Man films “Homecoming” and “Far From Home”, Ricky Strauss, Head of Content and Marketing at Disney +, revealed that Spider was in an interview with The Verge -You belong to Sony and so far no corresponding deal has come about between the two film studios. Nevertheless, Strauss did not want to rule out a cooperation entirely. “Who knows what will happen in the future?” He also explained and did not completely deprive fans of hope.

“The unbelievable Hulk” is missing in this country due to the tricky licensing basis: The rights to the title are held in Germany by the film distributor Concorde, which became part of the newly founded media company Leonine at the beginning of 2020 – and therefore simply does not belong to Disney.

The two “Deadpool” films as well as “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “Logan – The Wolverine” are missing due to the age rating. This is for said four films aged 16 and over. The streaming service Disney +, on the other hand, attaches great importance to a family-friendly program that is accessible to all age groups. That is why Disney + does not include films with a rating of 16 in its offer.

What can Marvel fans expect instead?

Despite everything, you can look forward to an exciting Disney + program: because numerous Marvel series are already in the starting blocks. The new series “WandaVision” will illuminate the story of Wanda and Vision, while “Loki” is all about Thor’s brother and the eponymous hero. In “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is about the adventures of Falcon and Bucky Barnes and “What if …?” Provides insights into alternative actions within the MCU.
